Marble, granite and quartz kitchen worktops
The worktop is the part of the kitchen that works every day — and the first thing you see. At SKARIS MARBLE we have been cutting kitchen worktops to size since 1976, at our own factory on the 4th km of the Thessaloniki–Lagadas road: natural marble, granite and quartz (engineered stone), with cut-outs for the sink and hob, 2 or 4 cm edge build-up and installation by our own crew.

Which material suits your kitchen
Marble. The classic Greek whites — Thassos, Volakas, Dionyssos — or off-white Kavala and Nestos for a more economical option. It needs sealing every 1–2 years and care with lemon and vinegar; in return it gives a surface no man-made material can copy. For a luxury kitchen: Calacatta, Arabescato, Nero Marquina.
Granite. The most durable natural material for a worktop: it does not scratch, does not stain easily and takes a hot pan. Azul Platino, Baltic Brown, Black & Gold and 40 more options in the collection.
Quartz (engineered stone). Uniform look, zero maintenance, a wide range of whites with Calacatta-style veining — Carrara Quartz, Statuario Quartz. The most “relaxed” choice for a family kitchen.
If you are not sure what to choose, come to the factory: you see whole slabs, not a 10×10 sample, and you take samples home free of charge.
How we work
- Measuring on site or from your kitchen maker’s drawing. For L- and U-shapes we make a template.
- Slab selection. You choose the exact slab that will be cut — the veining of marble is never the same in two pieces.
- Cutting & fabrication at the factory: sink and hob cut-outs, tap holes, 2 cm or 4 cm (laminated) edge, polished edges, bullnose or bevel where requested.
- Installation by our own crew, usually in one day, with sealed joints and a backsplash if specified.
The delivery time is stated in the quotation, counted from the final measurement.
Price and quotation
The price depends on the material, the thickness, the cut-outs and the edge finishing — which is why we do not quote a blind “price per metre”. See what determines the price of marble and send us dimensions, a sketch or a drawing through the quote form: we reply with a written, itemised quotation and a delivery time.
Frequently asked questions
Marble or granite for the worktop? If you cook a lot and do not want to think about maintenance, granite or quartz. If you want the natural white and accept a little care, marble. Most homes in Thessaloniki end up with Greek off-white marble or quartz.
Does marble stain in the kitchen? Acids (lemon, vinegar, wine) dull the polish if left for hours. With sealing and wiping, a Thassos worktop lasts for decades.
Which thickness should I choose? The slab is 2 cm. For a 4 cm look we build up the edge (laminated edge) so that you do not pay for double material.
Do you do cutting only, without installation? Yes — for kitchen makers, contractors and private clients with their own installers, we deliver cut and polished.
Do you make worktops outside Thessaloniki? We install throughout Central Macedonia and Chalkidiki. Further away, we ship the cut material.
