-Panda White-
Description & Features
Panda White owes its name to the black-and-white contrast reminiscent of a panda's coat. Similar black-and-white marbles from India and China are sold under the same name. On a bright white background run black bands of every thickness, from thin lines to wide stripes, following a wavy, almost parallel course and forming lens-shaped 'eyes' here and there, with fine grey lines in between. Every slab has a different rhythm of bands, which makes the material ideal for book-matched compositions on large walls. A polished finish gives the strongest contrast between white and black, while a honed or leathered surface gives a softer effect. As a calcitic marble it has a hardness of about 3 on the Mohs scale, while the other values in the table are indicative rather than test results for this variety. It is an excellent choice for feature walls, bathroom cladding, vanity tops, fireplace surrounds, stairs and interior floors. It is sensitive to acids and stains, which show strongly on the white background, so it needs sealing with regular renewal, cleaning with neutral products and care on kitchen countertops.
