-Volos Clouds-
Description & Features
The name of Volos Clouds points to Volos, where the Pelion area holds significant deposits of white and semi-white, mainly calcitic marbles, and its look matches the white-grey marble quarried there; it is the same material as Volos Veins, in a different appearance selection. The slab shows a white to light blue-grey background on which soft grey clouds form, together with dense white, feathery crystalline streaks that give depth and movement without strong contrasts – as happens in layered marbles, where a cross cut gives a clouded look and a vein cut gives linear veining. For the white-grey marble of a quarry in the area, an apparent density of about 2.73 g/cm³, water absorption of about 0.11%, compressive strength of about 110 MPa and flexural strength of about 24 MPa are reported, along with high frost resistance – indicative values. It takes polishing, honing, brushing, sandblasting and bush-hammering, so it adapts both to elegant interiors and to slip-resistant exterior surfaces. It is suited to wall and facade cladding, floors, stairs, bathrooms, spas, hammams and pool surrounds, as well as bathroom vanity tops. As a calcitic marble it dulls with acids, so sealing and cleaning with neutral cleaners are recommended.
Why choose Volos Clouds
- Clouded look with white crystalline streaks
- Bright, cool white-grey tone
- Same material as Volos Veins for combining in one project
- Finishes from polished to slip-resistant
Technical Specifications

| Country of Origin | Greece |
| Quarry / Region | Volos, Magnesia (per the trade name) |
| Color & Pattern | White to light blue-grey background with soft grey clouds and dense white, feathery crystalline streaks |
| Hardness (Mohs) | ≈3 (calcite – typical for calcitic marble) |
| Density (g/cm³) | ≈2.73 (producer data for a white-grey marble from the Volos area – indicative) |
| Water Absorption (%) | ≈0.11 (producer data for a white-grey marble from the Volos area – indicative) |
| Compressive Strength (MPa) | ≈110 (producer data for a marble from the Volos area – indicative) |
| Flexural Strength (MPa) | ≈24 (producer data for a marble from the Volos area – indicative) |
| Frost Resistance | The white-grey marble of the Volos area is reported as highly frost resistant and is used on building facades in cold climates; with water absorption of ≈0.11% it is also suited to exteriors (to be checked per batch) |
| Acid Sensitivity | Sensitive – calcitic marble; lemon, vinegar, wine and acidic cleaners leave dull marks |

Export & project supply
SKARIS MARBLE supplies Volos Clouds to stone importers, fabricators, architects and hotel projects outside Greece. From our facility in Thessaloniki we handle the whole order in-house:
- Slab selection and matching – we grade and match the slabs for colour and veining, so a large order stays uniform across the whole project.
- Cut-to-size and finishing – pieces cut, edged and finished to your drawings, numbered per room or elevation and ready to install.
- Mixed shipments – Greek marbles, granites, porous limestone (porolithos) and quartz surfaces can be combined in one order.
- Export packing – crated and labelled for sea or road freight, ex-works Thessaloniki; delivered terms quoted on request.
Send us your drawings or quantities and we will come back with a quotation and availability.
