-Skiathos-
Description & Features
Skiathos is a dense-pattern design from a quartz range by three Far East producers with their own production technologies and slabs made individually, by hand. There are no long veins here: the surface looks broken into white, rounded or angular pieces, each outlined with a fine grey line, and in the gaps between them dark patches gather in a blue-black, almost charcoal tone. The dark areas are grouped in diagonal bands, so the eye reads movement across an otherwise bright background – an image that recalls breccia or arabescato-type marbles with strong contrast. It is a quartz slab with resin, non-porous and with no need for sealing; the technical characteristics in the table are those typical of engineered quartz, as no measurements have been published for Skiathos. The polished finish heightens the contrast, while thickness and size are clarified per order. Given its strong look, it suits islands, wall cladding, bathroom countertops and tables, where it acts as the centrepiece of the room. Because the pattern varies from slab to slab, it is advisable to choose the slabs in person; it is cleaned with a soft cloth and a neutral detergent, while hot cookware and strong chemicals should be avoided.
Why choose Skiathos
- Strong contrast of white and blue-black
- Dense breccia-style pattern of fragments
- A centrepiece for islands and feature walls
- Non-porous – no sealing
Technical Specifications
| Material | Engineered quartz composite – quartz grains bound with resin, slabs produced one at a time (not Breton technology) |
| Color & Pattern | White to light grey-white background broken into fragments with grey outlines and deep blue-black (charcoal) patches |
| Hardness (Mohs) | ≈7 (typical for quartz surfaces) |
| Density (g/cm³) | ≈2.3–2.5 (typical range for quartz surfaces – not stated for this product) |
| Water Absorption (%) | Very low (typically < 0.1% for quartz surfaces – no value stated for this product) |
| Frost Resistance | For interior use – no freeze–thaw data are given for this product, and the resin binder of quartz surfaces is not suited to permanent sun exposure (UV can change the colour) |
| Acid Sensitivity | High stain resistance thanks to the non-porous surface; no chemical-resistance class is given, so strong acids, alkalis and solvents should be avoided |
| Recommended Finishes | Polished |

Export & project supply
SKARIS MARBLE supplies Skiathos to stone importers, fabricators, architects and hotel projects outside Greece. From our facility in Thessaloniki we handle the whole order in-house:
- Slab selection and matching – we grade and match the slabs for colour and veining, so a large order stays uniform across the whole project.
- Cut-to-size and finishing – pieces cut, edged and finished to your drawings, numbered per room or elevation and ready to install.
- Mixed shipments – Greek marbles, granites, porous limestone (porolithos) and quartz surfaces can be combined in one order.
- Export packing – crated and labelled for sea or road freight, ex-works Thessaloniki; delivered terms quoted on request.
Send us your drawings or quantities and we will come back with a quotation and availability.
